Greyhound Rescue - Children's Book Fundraiser

Dog lovers are invited to help raise dollars for rescue Greyhounds by pre-ordering a new Australian children’s picture book via an exciting, new crowdfunding campaign launched on Chuffed.org last week.

The campaign will fund the production of Pointy Pembleton Visits the Dog Park, a children's picture book about a gregarious Greyhound character who shows children how to accept others that may be a little different.

This crowdfunding campaign to help raise desperately needed funds for Greyhound Rescue Inc. has hit the $10,000 mark in an impressively short amount of time, raising two-thirds of its initial goal amount in the first three days!

“We are so humbled and overwhelmed by the support that Pointy Pembleton has received. We knew this project was a great one, we knew that we had the backing of our friends and family who believed in us, but to see the support that has come flooding in has just been absolutely incredible.” said Nat Panzarino, the author of Pointy Pembleton Visits the Dog Park.

Raising money for Greyhound Rescue Inc, this book seeks not only to raise awareness about greyhounds as family pets, but also has a wonderful story exploring themes of friendship and diversity, as gregarious Greyhound Pointy Pembleton makes his way in the world and comes across new and interesting characters.

Greyhounds are still discarded by the racing industry in large numbers, so ongoing fundraising projects like this one are an important way to help sustain the charity, who receives no government funding and relies solely on donations and grants.
“It is a great book! With fun characters and illustrations that kids love, as well as a story that has a some important messages. It rhymes too, which is something that we have found kids really enjoy. We had a great time developing the characters and testing them with Nat’s 3-year old. He would call me on the phone and tell me to change this or that, or he
wasn’t happy with the colour of something!” said Fer Wicker, illustrator.

Sporn Marrow Chew Bone

The Sporn Marrow Chew Bone (originally called the Yuppie Puppy ) is a jerky-flavour filled chewable nylon bone, which promises to control tartar and plaque, assisting with your dog's dental health. After putting it to the test for a number of years with our three Belgian Shepherds, we can attest that it is great for the toughest of chewers and may even save some of your furniture or shoes. Especially recommended during the puppy phase, when your dog is constantly teething and needs something to chew. Chewing this bone is similar to brushing their teeth. As the nylon shreds, it becomes like bristles, removing tartar and plaque build-up from the teeth. These interactive dental chew toys are unique to most other flavoured nylon bones as the marrow is added after the bone has been moulded and cooled. After trialling other brands on the market, we found that the marrow makes the difference and keeps our dogs coming back for more. Our dogs can surely smell it long before they can t...
