Active Creatures - Active Wear for Dogs

Active Creatures is a Melbourne-based apparel business which just launched a new active wear range for dogs at the recent Melbourne Dog Lovers Show.

Once focused solely on women’s sportswear, this innovative 3-year-old online start-up has recently broadened its luxury sportswear collection to include creatures on both two and four feet! “The move to embrace women and their pet pooches was inspired by our customers,” explains Active Creatures Co-founder and Director, Cameron Townsend.

“When customers were tagging us on social media we often noticed a dog in the background of their photos.

Seeing the role dogs were playing in our customers’ lives - as best friend and furbaby - we decided it was time to start designing for our customers’ besties too.”

Cameron says “our new Autumn/Winter collection of dog jackets was inspired by international ready-to-wear fashion. Our collection encompasses the latest fabrics and trims – think vinyl, city puffa and tweed, coupled with warm knits and neck snoods.

Philip Bartholomew, CEO and Founder of My Pet Warehouse agrees. “The relationship many women have with their dog is hugely important. When I first saw Cameron and Melody’s concept a year ago, I was impressed with their vision.”

The new Autumn/Winter Collection features eight separate items, in seven sizes (XXS - XXL).

Excessive Dog Barking: Tips & Advice

Barking is a common, frustrating problem for many dog owners. It can cause anything from mild annoyance to neighbourly disputes to formal disciplinary council action. In addition to being hugely stressful to owners, nuisance barking is potentially very dangerous for the dog. Barking can sadly lead to harsh unnecessary punishment, erosion of the human-animal bond and a higher risk of surrender and premature euthanasia. In some extreme cases, barking can lead to dogs being maliciously poisoned.  For all these reasons, barking is an issue warranting solid understanding and appropriate intervention. Barking has previously received little exploration among the scientific community, despite being one of the most conspicuous features of dog behaviour. WHAT DOES BARKING MEAN? Barking is a vocal form of communication, used for both dog-to-dog and dog-to-people communication.
